Personal Style Advice from Áine’s – How to Dress with Success

Two weeks ago we featured a blog post about personal shopping at Áine’s. It got a great response so we decided we would share some more personal style advice from the team as we race into the festive season. As this is the time of year most of us will treat ourselves to a new coat, knitwear or a even new frock!

Here are some personal style tips and insights into how to buy better and how to avoid poor wardrobe investments from the team at Áine’s:

It’s all about you

Science has proved that fashion can in fact have a powerful effect on the wearer. The way you dress can reduce stress hormones and also the idea of  ‘power dressing” does in fact hold water, helping people to focus and become more confident in getting better results. (Here’s a great article if you want to know more…)   Why are clothes important? Stacey answers, “because they are reflective of you, your personality. It’s important to invest in yourself.”

Lifestyle

The team at Áine’s are always mindful to ask about lifestyle, everyday the girls help women in every walk of life, from busy mums to company directors, navigate their way to better working wardrobes. It’s important to consider: How will your new purchase best suit your lifestyle? Do you need the outfit for outdoors, socialising or work?  “It’s best to invest in something you will wear again and again,” says Trish, “buy the best quality that will last and that is wearable.” This is the price-per-wear factor, which we think is the most useful tool when trying to decide what to invest in.

Assemble Ensemble

A good wardrobe gives you an instant shot of confidence. A hard working wardrobe will have all the essential staples such as workwear, a good coat, jeans, white shirt, shoes, handbag. This means you can reach in anytime and pull together an outfit for any occasion because all your staples will be chosen to work well with each other without any effort. Dee says the best way to ensure this is, “Always buy a complete outfit, it may pinch at the time but it pays off in the long run.”

Strong Foundations

Transformations can happen in the blink of an eye. Customers rediscover their shape and define their waist in the time it takes to fit a new bra! Therese one of the most experienced fitters in the Lingerie Lounge can testify to that, “I can’t tell people often enough, your bra needs to be changed every 6 months. It just gets knackered! Having a good bra makes a massive difference to your shape.”

Try something new

It’s good to know what your personal style is, but it’s also amazing to find a new style or cut that will flatter your shape! It’s easy to get stuck in a rut and find yourself wearing the same colours and the same style outfits over and over. “Don’t be afraid to get out of your comfort zone,” says Ania, “sometimes you just have to give things a try.” With the party season just around the corner, this could be the perfect time to try out something new.

A big smile

Does it give you joy? All the girls agree that when a customer comes out from behind the curtain with a big smile you know you’ve done a good job! If it doesn’t make you feel fabulous, or make you grin ear to ear then don’t buy it! Your wardrobe should flatter your figure, give you confidence, make you look and feel gorgeous. Don’t settle for “It’s alright” or “It will do for now”! Dee says, You see them light up, have a little twirl. They know it’s the outfit for them. My job is to make sure they leave here smiling.”
